Project Overview
The Route 1 Gateway project focuses on the corridor that carries traffic from the St. Stephen, New Brunswick/Calais, Maine International border to the Trans-Canada Highway in River Glade. The work of this project will improve traffic flow on this busy highway and make Route 1 safer and more efficient. The project includes the construction of 55 kilometres of new four-lane highway, selected upgrades to improve existing sections of Route 1 in New Brunswick and installation of 104 linear kilometres of wildlife fencing. Construction work as part of the project is to be finished by no later than July 31, 2013.
